The sea is unexplored and very deep, which is why many unique creatures are identified in its vast waters. Below is a list of seven sea creatures that are so out of the ordinary that they would almost sound like fiction.

Anglerfish

If ever a creature could be described as alien-like, the anglerfish fits the bill like a fat-burning diet fits a slimming pill. A large, immensely wide mouth with teeth and a glowing lure on the head for capturing pray in the dark and deep seas it inhabits.

Leafy Seadragon

Seahorse’s look like relatives of this creature, and the amazing ability of this creature is that it is covered with long appendages that resemble leaves, and hence it blends very well with seaweed and kelp. Due to its coloration and patterns, it resembles more of a water plant than a fish.

Goblin Shark

It has a torpedo-shaped body and a broad head with jaws that protrude way forward, and hence it has a scary, or rather, gory, look. They prefer cold water that ranges in depth up to two thousand meters, and their jaws can protrude forward to grab food.

Giant Squid

A giant squid is a deep-water animal that has a length that can reach 43 feet. Previously, it was only believed to be a legend; however, recent captures and sightings have been confirmed.

Mantis Shrimp

The mantis shrimp is a brightly colored shrimp with massive, fast-striking, hooked claws. The animal has some of the most complicated eyes in the whole of the animal kingdom, and thus it can easily see almost all the colors in the rainbow.

Vampire Squid

Though the name sounds rather scary, the vampire squid is not a dangerous creature at all and, in fact, can accommodate itself in a cup. It is a large sea creature that dwells in the conditions of the deep sea and moves with six webbed limbs, like paddles. If threatened, it flips over on its back, exposing its hard glow in the dark underside to fend off the predator.

Blobfish

The blobfish is another fish that has gained fame and notoriety because of its gelatinous, and some would say cartoonish, look. This animal dwells in the sea mainly around the regions of Australia and New Zealand, and its jelly-like structure makes it capable of living under pressure.
