Usually, milk made from plants is not common, especially in the Rwandan community. Currently, apart from milk from animals, especially cows, it is of great value both for the health of Rwandans and their culture. It has become popular, but it is also not popular with many; it is soy milk.

There is also milk that is bought and made into flour, which is often made with a mixture of dried cow’s milk and other ingredients that keep it stored for a long time.

There are other milks that many people may not know about, but they are also plant-based milks. That’s rice milk.

How is rice milk prepared?

Rice milk can be prepared in two ways:

Use of uncooked rice (on the bus):

    • Soak it in water equal to the rice yield (for example, if you’re going to use one cup of rice, measure the water in that cup), cover it tightly, and wait 12 hours.
    • Remove it from the water you have soaked, grind it in a special machine (blender or mixer), and add new, clean water (cooked or processed in a factory).
    • Filter in a container with very small laughter or in a cloth designed to filter milk made from plants.

    The second method is to use boiled rice

      • Soak rice in water for 24 hours
      • Remove it from that water
      • Boil it and cook it for 15 minutes
      • Grind and filter it with a soak or a special cloth.

      Grass is also important

      Grass is not thrown away because it can be made into bread, etc.

      Also, herbs that you can hang into powder that you can use to mix with water and give to a child with diarrhea are its original remedy.

      Note: The spices that make rice milk have a certain taste depend on the person’s taste. You can drink it without adding anything or adding vanille (vaniye), etc.

      The best is this milk:

      There are milks that can cause the body to develop, like beef and soy milk. Rice milk, therefore, can be used by all and those who make discoveries about the milk of cows or other animals such as goats, as well as soybeans.

      This milk has no cholesterol and no fat because it contains only 1 gram of fat in its cup.

      is richer in manganese and selenium than any other milk, and this is the first mineral to help the body flush out waste and protect it from microbial diseases.

      Above 80% of the composition of this milk is water.

      There are criticisms of rice milk

      Rice milk contains sugars that are easily and quickly absorbed by the body so that it may not be good for people who are sick or at high risk of diabetes

      Like other vegetarian milk, rice milk can lead to problems due to an incomplete diet (déséquilibres alimentaires). Unlike cow’s milk, this rice milk is very poor for protein and calcium salts (protéines et de calcium).
