As the Siberian area experiences a spate of severe wildfires, the authorities have started to evacuate children’s summer camps.
These, following the extremely high temperatures and the conditions of openness on the peninsula, are fast-moving fires that endanger both the ‘traditional’ indigenous population of the area and camps and popular tourism destinations.
Firefighting crews have remained on duty throughout the night to prevent further spread of the fires; however, the fierceness and coverage of the fires have still proven overwhelming enough to safeguard all areas.
