The National Food and Drug Administration, Rwanda FDA, has banned a type of drug including the number A4042 called EFFERARGAN VITAMIC C 500mg/200mg (comprime efferverscent), which is known to treat headaches and was developed by a factory in France called UPSA SAS.
The drug was discontinued after an analysis by the FDA, which found that its number changed from brown to white, which was revealed in a statement signed by FDA Director General Prof. Emile Bienvenue, which is against the standards of quality you must meet.
While another drug known to treat some eye conditions has been discontinued, called TETRACYCLINE HYDROCHLORIDE OPHTHALMIC OINTMENT USP 1% W/W STERILE number 23038, produced by Curis Lifescience Pvt Ltd of India, the FDA in the reports that have been made and submitted to the FDA and it is also doing analysis, it found that the number color of this drug has turned black instead of the color of the game, which is against the rules of its quality standards.
Doctors and pharmacists, drug users, owners of pharmaceutical stores and all their departments, importers of medicines into the country, pharmacies and retailers, public and private clinics across the country, were informed in a statement issued on June 30, 2024, that these drug numbers are suspended and that it is not allowed to use and distribute them, but that they should hurry to return them to their place of origin.
The FDA also in the announcement also informed all concerned that a report must be made consisting of figures of the amount of the drug that has been sold, sold, recovered and not sold; this is done within 10 working days from the time the announcement was made and this agency also warns people who had started using it after being prescribed by a doctor, to stop using it.
